Sometimes you need or want to connect to a Sentinel managed Redis master but would rather not manually pull the connection information from the config or API, then run redis-cli with the current information. Now you can do it easily.

Increasing Risk of Death?

While researching standing desk designs I saw a comment reading thusly:

Sitting all day increases your risk of death by up to 40%

Really? Unless I completely missed the biggest news story in history, our risk of death is still pretty much 100%. I’m not sure sitting at a desk really makes it 140%.

There Is No New Economy

Just thought I’d share that with those of you buying into the oft-repeated lie. When someone talks of it, ask them how it is fundamentally different from the “old economy”. New technology doesn’t make a new economy. Advances in how a business operates or interacts with purchasers do not change the economy - they improve or detract from that specific aspect.

Can we just not call them debates?

The New Office is Ready

A Shot from the deck door of my new home office.

No more garage office! There are a few things to finish off, such as the water cooler and mini-fridge, not to mention decorating. However, my new home office is ready for business. I have plenty of windows providing a bounty of natural daylight from the second story of the new house. I think I’ll be placing the mini-fridge just to the right of the monitor in the picture. The water cooler will go behind the desk in a tight corner where the walk-in closet door opens.

CloudFront Log Importer is a set of python scripts that upon proper configuration will retrieve your CloudFront access logs, order them, and store them locally. It also improves upon the formatting of the file by adjusting some fields and making it a tab delineated file. It is designed to run via cron and can be found at the cflogimporter repo.
